Import & export

Import your Strong history

In Strong, open Settings and use Export Strong Data to save a CSV of your history. Then in Kustos, go to Settings → Export & Import Data → Import Data → Strong and choose the file. Everything imports in one pass — and keep that CSV: Strong’s own docs say it can’t be re-imported into Strong.

Step 1: export your data from Strong

  1. Open Strong and go to its settings (the gear on the Profile tab).
  2. Tap Export Strong Data. Strong generates a single CSV of your workout history.
  3. Use the share sheet to save it somewhere you can reach from your other phone or from Kustos — the Files app, a cloud drive, or email to yourself all work.

Keep this file. Strong’s own help documentation states (as of July 2026) that its CSV export cannot be imported back into Strong: the export is a one-way door as far as Strong is concerned. Kustos imports it fully, but the original CSV is still your permanent archive, so store a copy somewhere safe.

Step 2: import into Kustos

  1. In Kustos, open the Profile tab and tap the gear to open Settings.
  2. Tap Export & Import Data, then Import Data.
  3. Pick Strong from the list. The Import from Strong screen recaps the export steps.
  4. Tap Choose file and select your Strong CSV.
  5. Wait for the import to run — years of history can take a moment.
  6. Review the Import complete summary: workouts imported, routines created, and custom exercises created.

What carries over

  • Every workout and set — weight, reps, set types, and RPE where your export includes them.
  • Exercises, matched automatically to the Kustos catalog of 450 exercises using 12,244 name aliases — Strong’s naming is one of the schemes the matcher knows. Anything unmatched becomes a custom exercise, so nothing is dropped.
  • Routines, rebuilt from your imported history so the sessions you actually repeat are ready to start.

Body measurements aren’t part of this import — Strong’s workout CSV doesn’t feed them into Kustos. You can start tracking measurements fresh in Kustos.

Good to know

  • No signup needed. Import works in guest mode. Everything Kustos needs to understand your file ships inside the app — even a phone that has never been online can start as a guest and import a full history on-device.
  • Re-importing is safe. Run the import again with the same file and already-present workouts are skipped.
  • Something look off after importing? Contact support@kustosapp.com — attaching the CSV helps us fix it fast.

Coming from Hevy too? See Import your Hevy history — you can merge both histories into one log.

Can I put my data back into Strong later?
Strong's own help documentation states (as of July 2026) that its CSV export cannot be imported back into Strong, so keep the file safe as your permanent archive. Kustos imports it fully, and your Kustos history can be exported to CSV at any time.
Do I need an account or internet to import?
No account — import works in guest mode with no signup. A guest who started the app offline imports entirely on-device. If you're signed in, Kustos syncs the imported workouts to your account as part of the import, which needs a connection.
Will importing the same file twice duplicate my workouts?
No. Re-importing is safe — workouts that are already present are skipped, and the summary shows "Already up to date".
What if an exercise from Strong isn't in the Kustos catalog?
Kustos creates it as a custom exercise automatically, so every set comes over. The import summary shows how many custom exercises were created.
